Sir Ian McKellen presents Dragons’ Den for charities
On Monday 15 March the second Dragons' Den event for charities will be held – presented by Sir Ian McKellen – at 6.00-9.00pm in our London office
As with last autumn's successful inaugural Dragons evening, several charities will be pitching for your support (money or time), as part of our Giving Back and Volunteering programme. Given Sir Ian McKellen's popularity we anticipate a large audience for this event, and will be arranging a live video feed to other PA offices.
We are excited that Sir Ian has managed to support this event – not least because he is in the middle of a much-praised stage run of 'Waiting for Godot'. His recent film performances of course include Gandalf the wizard in Lord of the Rings, and the villain Magneto in the X Men series.
The charities taking part are:
Tropical Health & Education Trust
THET is the UK-based charity that works in Britain’s health institutions to fight disease and improve basic health care in developing countries. They increase access to health care by training health workers.
PROPS
Run and resource after school clubs for teenagers with severe learning disabilities.
Homeshare International
Homeshare is an arrangement that exchanges housing for help. Homeshare provides support for two often vulnerable groups, generally considered to be on the fringe of society, who rarely benefit from meaningful care, support or protection from the Government.
MyBnk
MyBnk are an education charity working with young people to build the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage their money effectively and make enterprising choices throughout their lives.
Step Forward
Provide a personalised package of family support that helps ensure that we raise the hopes, aspirations and expectations of young people and their families, enabling them to make sustained changes in their lives and increasing their life choices.
