Danish Justice Minister focuses on cyber crime at PA seminar
The Danish Minister for Justice, Brian Mikkelsen, visited PA’s offices in Copenhagen last month to speak about cyber crime and industrial espionage at PA’s latest executive seminar. More than 50 CEOs, chairmen and other leading executives from Denmark's largest companies attended the seminar where, after an introduction by ITN's Leif Caspersen, the minister spoke about current security challenges and government initiatives in this area.
'One of the main challenges with cyber space crime is when the suspect is based in a different country where there are completely different laws and regulations', the minister said. The minister pointed out that this was a reason to be careful when using tools like Facebook, 'All the information stored there could fall into the wrong hands'.
He also spoke about more traditional crimes, where gangs of immigrants fight with biker communities. However, he highlighted these gangs are no longer as strong as they used to be. 'Their average age is 43, just like me', the minister said with a smile. 'That is why they have to use younger prospective recruits for a lot of their activities'.
The event took place in PA's canteen, as usual, and there were many opportunities for networking with existing and future clients. The minister cycled to the event and so had to finish a little earlier than planned so that he could make it back to the ministry in time for his next meeting.
