PA Germany strengthens its management team as two new Associate Partners join the firm
PA Germany has announced the arrival of two new Associate Partners in April - Hartmut Jaeger, who joins us from TPI EuroSourcing Germany, and Armin Strauss, who was previously a Director at TPI in Germany and one of the pioneers in creating TPI in Germany as an advisory company.
At TPI, Hartmut Jaeger was a Director and in charge of sourcing strategy, product development and business development with a focus on the Austrian market and the financial industry. Prior to TPI, Hartmut worked in management functions at Sun Microsystems, EDS, Deutsche Bank and Interactive Data. Hartmut has a strong focus on the financial industry where he spent most of his professional career. He was in charge of application development for Investment Banking Research and was in charge of operations for the front-end and back-end technology of Deutsche Bank's trading room in Frankfurt. At EDS and Sun Microsystems he primarily focused on sales and large projects for the financial industry.
Hartmut brings deep outsourcing and service management expertise as well as an advisory focus on sourcing strategy and service management in addition to governance and risk management, especially in the financial industry. He has extensive experience in data centre and distributed environments, networks and desk-tops - architecture and operations - which comes from working in multiple industries and assignments.
Armin Strauss brings more than 23 years of IT experience to his role at PA. His experience includes all aspects of sourcing advisory, various management assignments, cost reduction programmes, etc. Prior to his role as Director at TPI, he served as CIO and as member of the German management board for Mundipharma, a successful pharmaceutical company. Prior to this he served successfully in various management positions for Lucent Technologies. His last appointment at Lucent was the Director for the Vendor and Contract Management for the EMEA region.
Armin brings expertise in outsourcing, IT service transformation, sourcing advisory and governance; industry experience in the information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemistry, logistics and financial services sectors; and extensive experience in leading large international teams.
The new profit imperative for car manufacturers: Sales & Aftersales Best-of-Class
The challenges facing today's automotive market have not been seen for over 20 years. The key issue is how to emerge as a winner after the crisis.
The industry is likely to be changed forever. Previously automotive manufacturers had competed fiercely against each other, rooted in rigid structures and protected by high market entry barriers. Now they face a different kind of threat from new players – a threat requiring new strategic alignments and the ability to capture value much farther downstream than before.
This report's analysis of automotive sales and after sales markets by PA Consulting Group Germany offers insights that help you to formulate winning strategies in these areas of the value chain:
-
New car sales – master growth through outbound supply chain excellence
-
Fleet and used car – secure the margin by increase of residual value
-
After sales and parts – defend against independent providers
-
Financial services – dominate the market
-
Downstream value – formulate the strategic response.

Change Management – beyond the usual spices
Although change management is a popular topic the search for the 'recipe' for successful management of change projects continues. This new survey 'Change Management – beyond the usual spices' clarifies the question of what successful change management represents. A total of 103 organisations took part in the study – which covers a wide range of industries and different roles in the implementation of change projects.
The results show that change management is an indispensable element of projects, and confirm the factors that influence success: Investment in resources, early and continuous monitoring of change projects; ability, participation and control.

Germany’s first Alumni event in spring 2009
PA in Germany hosted a spring Alumni event on 12 March 2009. Alumni and PA colleagues were treated to an evening of food and drink as well as insight on PA in Germany from Rainer Gross and on the Change Management Study 2008 from Heike Heeg. Following the positive feedback we are planning to have a second event in Frankfurt by the end of this year. For further information regarding alumni activities in Germany please contact us at stefanie.strehl@paconsulting.com.
The PA Retirers' Association (PARA) is a great way to keep in contact with ex-PA colleagues and receive occasional updates on news about PA itself. Over 500 PA pensioners and alumni enjoy being members of PARA.
The PARAnews newsletter is distributed three times each year, and contains a wide variety of articles on subjects ranging from updates on the pension scheme to members’ experiences and activities.
PARA organises regional social events, usually lunch-time gatherings in pubs or restaurants, that are becoming increasingly popular. The Annual General Meetings present a special opportunity to get together with former colleagues from far and wide. There is also an annual golf tournament in the UK.
Membership of PARA is open to everyone who has spent a considerable proportion of their career in PA, or their widowed spouse.
